Singapore Changi Airport T316 Project
Φ 6.69m STEC EPB TBM
Project Year: 2024
Project Overview
Project Summary
Tunnel Configuration: The T316 project involves 2 tunnels:
Section 1: 1.7 km
Section 2: 0.3 km
Total Tunnel Length: The total length of the tunnels is 2 km.
Construction Challenges
Buried Depth: The tunnel axis is buried between 22 to 28 meters deep.
Geological Layers: During excavation, the shield machine will pass through:
Old sedimentary layers
Soft marine clay layers
Critical Obstacles:
E5 and E20 oil pipelines, which are key oil transport pipelines buried deep in quicksand layers.
Underneath Singapore's Airport Runway 2 and the aircraft taxiway.
High Precision Requirements: The presence of deep-buried pipelines and soft soil requires extremely precise control of the shield machine's advancement parameters.
Jello-Mud Results
Injection
Jello-Mud is injected through reserved holes in the shield machine to control surface settlement, waterproofing the shield, and stabilize the soil beneath airport runway and around oil pipelines.
Ground Settlement
Jello-Mud maintained ground settlement within design scope.
